Reader questions
Decor and tiling questions
What people ask before refreshing a bathroom.
- Can you tile over existing tiles?
- Sometimes, if the old tiles are firmly bonded and the wall can take the weight, but removing them usually gives a better result. We’ll check on site.
- Will changing taps mean new pipework?
- Not usually, if the new taps suit the existing connections. Wall-mounted taps or a change of tap position may need more work.
- Do you supply tiles and fittings?
- We can, or fit the ones you’ve chosen. We’ll check sizes and compatibility before you order.
- Is brushed brass hard to look after?
- Finishes vary by manufacturer, so follow their care guidance. Mild soapy water and a soft cloth suit most.
- Can lighting be added without rewiring?
- It depends on the existing circuits. A qualified electrician will confirm what’s possible and certify the work.
- Do you regrout without retiling?
- Yes. Regrouting and resealing alone can make a tired bathroom look much fresher.
- How long does a refresh take?
- Usually much less than a full renovation, but it depends on what’s changing. We’ll give a timescale with the quote.
- Do you help with design choices?
- Yes, we’re happy to talk through tile, colour and finish combinations.
- Are you insured?
- Yes, request our insurance certificates with your quote and we’ll send copies before any work is booked in.
